Brenn! Kicks off his Amateur At Best tour in Houston!

Review and Photos by Christian Hernandez

Fresh off the heels of his debut album, AMATEUR AT BEST, Brenn! touchdown in Houston for the first stop of the tour of the same name. Making waves as a recent inclusion in Billboard’s 21 Under 21 and shows at Lollapalooza and Hangout Fest, he has become an upcoming voice to be on the lookout for. Mixing the intimacy of stringful melodies and deeply emotional lyrics, his music has made the way into the hearts of both young and old.

As soon as you walked into the Bronze Peacock in Houston, every fan was singing along to the preshow music, always a great sign. The lights dimmed and he took the stage solo, performing with only his voice and piano. You could see how intimate this show was going to be, with fans star struck from the opening track. When he finished, the rest of his band took the stage, and the show was off!

He played through a medley of his catalogue, with a bulk of the show being from the debut album. Songs like MIDWEST, I’ll BE BACK and AMATEUR AT BEST were met with the beautiful sounds of the crowd singing back with him. The drums echoed through the venue, the guitars strumming over the airwaves. Again, it was truly an intimate experience.

Brenn! made sure to make the show feel unique, cracking jokes  about how hot it is in Houston, giving stories about the creation of the music, at one point even taking the time to sing happy birthday to a fan in the crowd!

Stop number one was a promising start for the tour, showcasing how much Brenn! has grown as an artist and as a performer. If he’s coming to a city near you, check him out! Stream his debut album now!
