Hi everyone! We are super excited to share a brand-new single that was introduced to us this past weekend. We have Moy Cohen, a British-Mexican alt-pop artist, who has just released his newest single, “Childhood Photographs”. We’ve been listening all weekend and we cannot wait to listen to his EP ‘Overgrown’ which is dropping August 9th! Read below to get some more info on the latest release and stream on all digital streaming platforms!
“Childhood Photographs” is a deeply personal peek into the aching heart of a boy who struggled to feel at home growing up and who turned to music as a form of self-therapy, discovering his voice while coping with the repercussions of his parent’s divorce. After moving in with his grandparents, Moy wrote this song on a guitar his grandfather gifted him, tackling subjects like life transitions, the anxiety of change, and the desire for stability.
The accompanying music video sees Moy offering fans a stunning acoustic take on the song in the tranquility of his grandfather’s garden, with sweet bird songs echoing in the background.
Following the success of previous singles “Pick Up the Pieces,” “Ocean,” “Against the Wind,” and “Stick Around,” “Childhood Photographs” is the fifth single to be released from the artist’s forthcoming EP “Overgrown,” which was produced in Mexico City and mixed by multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer Jerry Boys, and is set for release on August 9.
Currently based in Australia, Moy is a self-taught musician and insightful songwriter with a voice that has been compared to that of Coldplay’s Chris Martin. He is an advocate for mental health, and his music has been heard on BBC Music Introducing, while his song “Ocean” was featured in The CW’s hit series “Walker” starring Jared Padalecki in the United States.
