Queer-Quick Review
By Rob Hinkal

Luca Guadagnino continues to be one of the most interesting directors of our time with his adaptation of Willam S. Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical publication, Queer.
In essence, Queer is a study of loneliness, of wanting to be loved. Through Daniel Craig’s incredible lead performance, we can see these thoughts and emotions as he courts a younger man during his travels through Mexico City. It did lose me a bit in the second act as it lost some of the snap that it had going for it at the beginning, but the ending is a knockout and has stayed with me since I watched the film. I knew Daniel Craig was good… I did not know he was THAT good.
Queer is a unique, flawed movie that offers impressive performances and ideas, but doesn’t quite know how to find its way through a meandering middle act while still managing to provide the audience with a conclusion that is well worth the journey.
