Tame Impala closed out the U.S. leg of the Deadbeat Tour in front of back-to-back sold-out crowds this past weekend at Houston’s Toyota Center. 

Released October 17, 2025, “Deadbeat,” Tame Impala’s fifth album marks a shift in Kevin Parker’s sound, moving beyond the psychedelic rock of his earlier work toward beats and electronic production influenced by EDM, house, and techno. 

The show reflected the change throughout his musical career, moving between Tame Impala’s psychedelic roots and the electronic sounds shaping its newest era. Tame Impala opened with “Apocalypse Dreams,” immediately taking the audience back to his second studio album, “Lonerism”, before moving through songs from different periods that have defined him as an artist, such as “Currents” and “The Slow Rush. The night would culminate with newer material from his most recent album release. 

The stage was a highlight itself. Tame Impala performed from a massive 360-degree stage. He transitioned to a smaller stage midway through the show. Designed to look like a living room or bedroom, complete with pillows and rugs, it created an intimate, personal atmosphere across the entire Toyota Center. This section of the performance highlighted the electronic influences of Deadbeat, with Parker performing “Ethereal Connection” and “Not My World,” songs with strong house and techno elements. 

The show closed out with “End of Summer,” a bittersweet ending to the U.S. leg of the Deadbeat Tour going into our last week of summer. But not before Parker allowed a fan from the audience to pick “Why Won’t They Talk to Me.” 

From here, Tame Impala will continue the Deadbeat Tour in Australia before returning to Europe in 2027. Following the recent release of his studio album and his worldwide tour, we likely won’t see him perform in the United States anytime soon.
